On December 17, 2021, the 20th China International Internal Combustion Engine and Parts Exhibition, themed "Innovation-driven, Energy Saving and Emission Reduction, Green Development," officially opened in Changsha. The three-day exhibition (17th-19th) provided a grand stage for internal combustion engine industry players, attracting significant attention and achieving record-breaking scale and influence.

This year's exhibition covered over 60,000 square meters, with over 400 exhibitors and more than 30 industry forums. On the first day alone, it attracted over 20,000 professional visitors. Numerous well-known enterprises, including FAW Jiefang, Weichai, Yuchai, Foton Cummins, Shanghai Diesel Engine, Quanchai, CNPC Jichai, Yunnei, Great Wall, Huafeng Power, Jiangxi Isuzu, YTO, Sany, NORINCO Group, Changchai, Weifu, Junfeng Electric Control, Bohai Piston, Kexing, Jiheng, Yipai Direct Drive, and Yuhuan, showcased their latest National VI on-road and National IV off-road products, key components, and high-end equipment.

Following the announcement of the national "dual carbon" strategy, the development of the new energy industry has received widespread attention. The accelerated integration and transformation of the traditional internal combustion engine industry into new energy is also a major highlight of this exhibition, with industry giants such as FAW Jiefang, Weichai, Yuchai, Quanchai, and Yunnei showcasing their new energy products.

The exhibition comprehensively showcased various internal combustion engine mainframes and parts, commercial vehicles, powertrains, alternative fuel internal combustion engine products, remanufacturing technologies and products, power and generation equipment, control systems, and specialized manufacturing equipment for internal combustion engines. Energy-saving technologies in the internal combustion engine manufacturing process, as well as various related technologies, products, and services, were also presented, fully reflecting the needs of a low-carbon economy and society.

During the exhibition, the Seventh National Member Representatives Conference of the China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association and the 2021 China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Future Development Forum were held. Distinguished academicians, industry experts, university professors, and corporate executives gathered to conduct in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics related to industry development. Simultaneously, several professional forums and conferences were held, including the Second Enlarged Council Meeting of the Medium and Large Bore Multi-cylinder Diesel Engine Branch of the China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association, the 2021 Annual Meeting and 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Small Gasoline Engine Branch of the China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association, and the China International Internal Combustion Engine Industry Sustainable Development Forum, enriching the exhibition content and expanding on its theme.

Various branches of the China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association also made a stunning appearance at the exhibition with professional exhibition groups. Under the backdrop of the "dual carbon" goals, addressing energy saving, emission reduction, green manufacturing, and the circular economy requires the collective wisdom and efforts of the entire industry and society. Concurrent with the China International Internal Combustion Engine and Parts Exhibition, the 3rd China (Changsha) International Garden Greening Industry and Outdoor Power Equipment Expo, the 2nd China International Commercial Vehicle Carnival and 2021 Central South International Commercial Vehicle Fair, the 9th China International Machinery Industry Remanufacturing Expo, and the China International Powertrain and Technology Equipment Expo were also held. Companies, industry associations, research institutions, and professional visitors from various industries and disciplines gathered in Changsha to multidimensionally consider and discuss the construction of an innovative energy-saving and emission-reduction system, jointly exploring the advanced path of green development.

2021 presented both opportunities and challenges for the internal combustion engine industry. Despite the impact of repeated outbreaks and resource shortages, the entire industry pressed forward, achieving growth against the odds. From January to October 2021, the overall sales volume of internal combustion engines in China increased by 10.6% year-on-year, total power increased by 8% year-on-year, and import and export volume reached US$25 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.5%, making a significant contribution to China's economic growth. As the world's largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines with the most complete industrial chain, the Chinese internal combustion engine industry demonstrated exceptional resilience and withstood the test.

Qian Hengrong stated: "Currently, China has clearly defined its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, and internal combustion engines are a key force in achieving these goals. With breakthroughs in efficient, low-carbon, and near-zero emission technologies, internal combustion engine products have reached new heights in performance and quality. This joint exhibition showcases gasoline engines, diesel engines, agricultural and small general-purpose engines equipped with new technologies, demonstrating the main engine driving the achievement of the "dual carbon" goals in the new era. It also showcases advanced garden machinery equipment, identifying the technological upgrade opportunities for the afforestation and greening industry, providing support for accelerating the transformation and upgrading of the entire garden greening industry chain, and building an ecological civilization and a beautiful China."
