On March 3, 2013, a technological achievement appraisal meeting for the national key technological project "ECK2150A CNC Piston Elliptical Turning Lathe" was held. The meeting was organized by the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology and presided over by the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology. Changsha Yipai CNC Machine Tool Co., Ltd. served as the leading unit, with Shaanxi Diesel Engine Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., Wuhan Huazhong CNC Co., Ltd., and Huazhong University of Science and Technology as participating units. The appraisal committee consisted of seven members, with Sheng Bohou, deputy chief engineer of the Beijing Machine Tool Research Institute, serving as the chairman, and Fan Dapeng from the National University of Defense Technology as the vice chairman. The meeting was chaired by Luo Qiang, director of the Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation and External Exchange Office of the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, with Zhang Yanqiong and Li Liwen, director and deputy director of the Science and Technology Achievements and Technology Market Office of the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, in attendance.
This appraisal meeting received attention from numerous top experts and relevant leaders in the machinery manufacturing industry, who attended despite their busy schedules to witness the project's appraisal process. Other experts in attendance included Xing Min, secretary-general of the China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association; Zhou Zhixiong, professor at Hunan University; Liu Pengzhan, deputy general manager and senior engineer of Xiangtan Jiangbin Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd.; Liu Xianfeng, deputy general manager and senior engineer of Shijiazhuang Jinkang Internal Combustion Engine Parts Group Co., Ltd.; and Yuan Maoqiang, professor at the Hunan Provincial Mechanical Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Station. Also in attendance were some leaders, experts, and engineering and technical personnel from the project's cooperating units.
The appraisal committee first listened to the research work summary report, technical research report presented by Yang Jian, director of the technical center of Changsha Yipai CNC Machine Tool Co., Ltd., on behalf of the project team; the inspection report from the Hunan Provincial Mechanical Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Station; and the user report from Shaanxi Diesel Engine Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. They reviewed the relevant documents and conducted an on-site inspection of the workshop. The experts gave high praise to the research achievements of the completed project. The appraisal committee unanimously agreed that the achievement is highly innovative, solves the urgent need for processing large-diameter elliptical pistons in China, fills a domestic gap, and reaches the internationally advanced level.
Finally, Zhu Genghong, chairman of Changsha Yipai CNC Machine Tool Co., Ltd. and head of the project team, expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the project team to the leaders, departments, cooperating units, and colleagues who provided support and assistance during the project's development. He stated that they would carefully incorporate the valuable suggestions from the experts, bring the achievement to market, shoulder the responsibility of the national industry, and contribute to the development of China's engine industry and the reduction of automobile emission standards.
